Arcosanti Five-Week Workshops
It has been over thirty-three years since Paolo Soleri began constructing Arcosanti, the world's first prototype Arcology (ARC-hitecture with ec-OLOGY). Over 5000 people from various backgrounds and disciplines have joined him in the construction of this unique project, creating an interesting and stimulating mix of humanity as well as a great educational experience. The physical construction of the Arcology is the major priority of the project. The workshop is mostly a hands-on experience, where technique is taught by actual participation in the day-to-day routine of building and maintaining Arcosanti. Seminar week includes lectures and meetings which offer the opportunity to learn the architectural and philosophical theories of Paolo Soleri. The remaining four weeks are spent working side by side with the staff and contributing to the project in one of the following departments: construction, facilities maintenance, agriculture or landscaping.
