SUMMARY:Arcosanti Five-Week Workshops
DESCRIPTION:It has been over thirty-three years since Paolo Soleri beg
 an constructing Arcosanti\, the world's first prototype Arcology (ARC-
 hitecture with ec-OLOGY).   Over 5000 people from various backgrounds 
 and disciplines have joined him in the construction of this unique pro
 ject\, creating an interesting and stimulating mix of humanity as well
  as a great educational experience.\n\nThe physical construction of th
 e Arcology is the major priority of the project.   The workshop is mos
 tly a hands-on experience\, where technique is taught by actual partic
 ipation in the day-to-day routine of building and maintaining Arcosant
 i.   Seminar week includes lectures and meetings which offer the oppor
 tunity to learn the architectural and philosophical theories of Paolo 
 Soleri.  The remaining four weeks are spent working side by side with 
 the staff and contributing to the project in one of the following depa
 rtments\:  construction\, facilities maintenance\, agriculture or land
 scaping.
